Student Introduction

Health equity is the foundation of creating communities where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to live a healthy life. It means addressing the barriers—such as poverty, discrimination, and limited access to resources—that prevent individuals and groups from achieving their best health. In this unit, we will dive into the factors that shape healthy and unhealthy communities, examining the social, economic, and environmental influences that contribute to disparities in health outcomes. Together, we will explore real-world health equity issues, their impacts on communities, and brainstorm actionable solutions to promote well-being. Through creative projects like infographics and policy proposals, and engaging debates, we will critically evaluate differing viewpoints and collaborate to find innovative ways to build healthier, more equitable futures for everyone. This unit is not just about understanding health equity but about empowering you to be part of the change.
