There have been two resources provided to introduce you to the problem of meth addiction in Fresno.  You have been tasked with answering the "Why?"  There are a number of factors that are introduced, however pick one as your focus. As you write your paper, make sure to identify and address health disparities or social determinants of health that may be contributing.  Should have at least three resources to support your claims.  As a conclusion, outline how you would address the issue you focused on and what resources would be required.

End of Unit : Anti-Drug Campaign

In small groups create a "Stop Meth" campaign.  Read through The National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign and watch Retro Drug Commercials as an example and to help generate ideas.  Based on what you learned from your research paper, design what you think would be an effective campaign to "Stop Meth" here in Fresno.  Create your campaign and present to your peers.  At the end of your presentation answer the following questions.

  • Who is your target audience?
  • What is your message?
  • How will you distribute your information?
  • How would you gauge the effectiveness of your campaign?

Audience:  Based on the campaign and the group's answers to the 4 questions,

  • Do you think the campaign was appropriate and effective for their target audience?
  • Did you receive the message they were trying to convey?
  • Do you think their distribution plan is the best way to get their message out?
  • Do you agree with how they will gauge the campaign effectiveness?
