Objectives

Social Work

A Health Professions Workshop defining the field of Social Work.  Students will learn about the various social areas that this field covers. They will learn how social workers aim to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities and the main 3 levels that the scope of practice for social work falls within. Students will gain a deeper understanding of important qualities that an individual should have if considering this career path, as well as, the educational requirements including licensure needed for the different levels of degrees in this field. 

  1. Define social work 

  2. Identify social impacts that social workers have 

  3. Understand the field of social work and the levels of practice within the career 

  4. Explore education requirements for the different majors 

  5. Discuss skills needed to be a strong candidate for this career path
