Description

Students explore how technology is changing healthcare and the careers connected to it. Through real-world examples, students discover how healthcare professionals use tools such as medical imaging, patient monitoring, electronic health records, simulation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies to support patient care. Students also consider an important question: What can technology do—and what still requires a person? 

Objectives

  1. Explore different ways technology is used in healthcare.

  2. Identify a variety of healthcare careers that use technology.  

  3. Understand how technology can support healthcare professionals in making decisions and caring for patients.  

  4. Examine the benefits and challenges of using new and emerging healthcare technologies.  

  5. Consider issues such as safety, privacy, access, cost, and bias.  

  6. Recognize how healthcare technology continues to change careers and create new opportunities.  

  7. Consider how their own interests and skills might connect to careers involving healthcare and technology.
