Valley 6- Immigrant Health 

Description

California and especially the Central Valley is home to the largest population of foreign-born individuals.  It is imperative to understand immigrant health and how extenuating factors play a part in treating foreign born individuals or mixed status families.  

Objectives

  1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and describe the health risks that immigrants commonly face when settling in a new country, demonstrating their understanding through a written summary or class discussion. 

  2. Students will review and analyze the demographics of immigrant patients, identifying key trends and patterns, and will present their findings in a report or infographic. 

  3. Students will be introduced to and explain various factors that can affect access to and the quality of healthcare for immigrants, discussing these factors in a group presentation or case study analysis.
