Dental Pathologies

Description

Students will learn about dental health, review dental pathologies and the systemic effects on one's overall health.  

Objectives

  1. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to name and describe the parts of a tooth, identify the different types of teeth, and explain their functions, demonstrating their knowledge through a labeling activity or quiz. 

  2. Students will become familiar with common dental terminology, procedures, and pathologies, and will apply this knowledge in a case study or role-playing activity that simulates a dental consultation. 

  3. Students will understand the systemic effects of oral health, explaining how oral conditions can impact overall health, and discussing these effects in a written report or group presentation. 

  4. Students will understand and demonstrate proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and the use of mouthwash, and will explain how these practices prevent common dental issues, as demonstrated in a hands-on workshop or peer teaching activity. 

  5. Students will analyze the relationship between diet and oral health, identifying foods that promote healthy teeth and gums and those that contribute to dental decay, and will discuss these findings in a group presentation or written report.
