Description

This workshop introduces students to careers focused on respiratory care. Students will delve into the role of Pulmonologists and other respiratory care specialists, exploring their scope of practice, common respiratory conditions, and diagnostic tools used in the field. Additionally, students will examine the education and training pathways, practice locations, and salary ranges associated with careers in pulmonology. 

Objectives

  1. Define Pulmonology and explain the role of a Pulmonologist. 

  2. Identify key components of the respiratory system. 

  3. Investigate common respiratory conditions and the diagnostic tools used in their detection. 

  4. Explore educational requirements, training, salary ranges, and practice locations for careers in respiratory medicine.

  • Small Group Discussion Option: At the end of the PowerPoint presentation is a slide of other respiratory specialties. Students are tasked with looking up these careers in small groups so that they can share out with the group. Students should consider the following questions:
