Objectives

Mental Health – A look into the Fields of Psychology and Psychiatry  

A Health Professions workshop that takes a look into the career paths of Phycologists and Psychiatrists within the field of mental health. Students will learn about different myths vs. facts in mental health and about various statistics. They will explore what the difference is between the two professions and how they individually work within the field. Additionally, students will explore the difference in educational requirements for each career path and the salary ranges for both.  

  1. Gain a deeper understanding about mental health  

  2. Read more about myths within the field and the facts that set them straight  

  3. Learn about the difference between the two main professions that work in mental health  

  4. Discuss common disorders treated within mental heath  

  5. Through an optional activity, students can do a deeper dive into the various disorders in order to understand  the symptoms and how to treat that particular disorder
