Description

This workshop provides students with an in-depth understanding of pediatrics, focusing on the role of a pediatrician. Students will learn about the patient population pediatricians treat and the common diagnoses and treatments they provide. The presentation aims to deepen students' understanding of the pediatrician’s role in caring for young patients. A featured video offers insights into a day in the life of a pediatric doctor. Additionally, students will explore the educational requirements, practice locations, and average salary range for pediatricians. 

Objectives

  1. Define Pediatrics. 

  2. Identify the role of a Pediatrician and the conditions they treat. 

  3. Discuss the various specialties within pediatrics. 

  4. Explore the tools and methods pediatricians use to diagnose and treat patients. 

Activity Options

  • Longer Activity: Creating the Ideal Pediatrician 
  • Shorter Activity: Brainstorm as a class the ideal pediatrician 
    • list of qualities, skills, and attributes they believe are essential for an ideal pediatrician.
