Activities

  • Pre-Lecture Worksheet: Students will complete a pre-lecture worksheet designed to activate their knowledge about cultural practices related to health and wellness. 
  • Pre-Lecture KWL Chart: Students will complete a KWL (Know, Want to know, Learned) chart regarding cultural practices and their impact on health. 
  • Research Project: In pairs, students will research a specific cultural practice related to health (e.g., traditional healing, dietary restrictions). They will present their findings to the class, highlighting the significance of the practice. 
  • Role Play: Cultural Competency This script provides a clear interaction that emphasizes cultural competency while allowing room for discussion and reflection afterward. 
  • Creative Expression: Students will create an infographic(video, poster, or digital story) showcasing a cultural practice and its influence on health. They will present their projects to the class. 
  • Reflection Journal: Students will write a reflective journal entry on what they learned about cultural practices and how this knowledge can inform their future interactions with patients.  
  • Activity: Cultural Practices Hot Seat  This activity encourages dynamic participation, promotes physical movement, and enhances peer learning, making the exploration of cultural practices both fun and interactive.
