Global Equity and Justice in Healthcare 

Global equity in healthcare is defined as systematic differences in healthcare of different economic, social, and geographic levels. Factors such as employment status, income level, gender, ethnicity, and so on play a huge role in shaping health disparities.  

  1. Inform students on what global equity is and how it affects our healthcare system.  

  2. Students will learn about health disparities we see in our community.  

  3. Analyze how the environment can play a huge role in health issues.  

  4. Identify groups that tend to be affected the most by health disparities.  

  5. Read book excerpts from and be able to identify health disparities.

Read Excerpts  from the book “The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down” and answer the questions on the last page. Students will answer the questions individually, and then form small groups to discuss their thoughts and ideas with each other.
