Health Equity

Students will learn about what equity and health equity is as well as how technological advancements in the 21st century do not directly equal equitable access to all. Students will be introduced to downstream and upstream interventions and review examples of each. Students will work collaboratively to discuss how as a group they can address health inequities in their community and work through a case study.. 

  1. Define equity and health equity. 

  2. Learn about current 21st century technological advancements aimed at increasing the overall health wellbeing of communities. 

  3. Discuss how advancements do not equal equitable access and review relevant examples.  

  4. Discuss efforts that can be done to address health inequities. 

  5. Learn about downstream vs upstream interventions. 

  6. Work collaboratively as a team to review a case study aimed at addressing health equity.
