UCSF DA Research Course

Description

The aim of the research course (70-80 hours) is to introduce concepts and approaches of APA style medical research to current high school juniors participating in the UCSF Fresno Doctors Academy program. 

Objectives

  1. Promote student’s appreciation of the role of medical research in a critical analysis of health disparities, health politics, and global health.  

  2. Deepen students’ knowledge in collegiate level material.

  3. Promote students’ participation in research, activities and assignments designed to introduce students to APA style medical research.  

  4. Encourage students to review and evaluate peer-reviewed journal articles.  

  5. Promote students’ skills to read, analyze, and write a final literature paper through written and oral modes of communication.

Activity Options

All activities will result in a written research paper with a poster presentation.
